As it is one of the most visited countries in Europe, many tourists wonder: When can we travel to Spain again in 2020? Below we provide updated information with specific dates.
Spanish government introduced a 4-phases de-escalation plan, varying in different regions of the country, on the basis of the health situation.
First places to open up again, as soon as on 4 May, were four islands: the Balearic island of Formentera, and the Canary Islands of La Graciosa, La Gomera and El Hierro.
The regions where de-escalation is slightly delayed in comparison to the rest of the country are the areas of Madrid and Barcelona.
Which areas of Spain are the safest?
If you want to travel to Spain, the places where there are less probabilities are the following areas:
- The Rioja,
- Balearic Islands,
- Canary Islands
Currently, there is a proposal of “travel corridors” between the different regions and countries within the EU where the virus has not hugely spread. It means that some parts of Spain would allow international tourism earlier than the other regions, i.e. before the 1st July. It regards mostly the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, the economy of which is strongly dependent on tourism.
Tour operators and airlines are already moving to prepare an offer for the summer holidays in the Spanish islands.
From 1st July, passengers of international flights who visit Spain will not be obliged to have a two-week quarantine, which at this moment is obligatory.
